Comprehensive stroke rehabilitation to help regain function and independence.

Experiencing a stroke can be devastating in many ways. There can be physical and mental changes that disrupt lives and seriously impair independence. The good news is that inpatient stroke rehabilitation at Gulf Coast Health Care centers can help you or your loved one adjust to those changes and return to the highest level of independence possible following a stroke.

One key factor: the sooner you start stroke rehabilitation, the greater your chances of recovery. Indeed, studies have correlated earlier commencement of stroke rehab therapy with increased probability of regaining the capacity to walk without assistance.

An individualized treatment plan delivered by an interdisciplinary team.

At Gulf Coast Health Care centers in Florida, Georgia and Mississippi, we offer a comprehensive, team-based approach to stroke rehabilitation. Our programs include physician-directed physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, with the goal of returning the patient to the highest functional status possible. To achieve this objective, our highly trained team works collaboratively and closely to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. We start with an in-depth assessment of the patient’s functional status performed by each member of an interdisciplinary team that includes:

  • Licensed nurses
  • Registered dietitian
  • Physical therapist
  • Speech therapist
  • Social worker
  • Psychologist when needed
  • Neurologist when needed
